Melanie & Rusty had the privilege of speaking with Dr. Imad Naji Rasheed recently. He was a professor at the University of Baghdad, Iraq and is a specialist in herbal medicine, which he taught himself by translating and studying ancient Arabic texts. Rusty met him at a Tucson Target, where he currently works as a customer service representative after fleeing Baghdad.
We are thrilled to share his story with you over the next several episodes.
In this episode, we begin by discussing the work he and his colleague undertook at the University of Baghdad to establish an institute to teach herbal medicine to medical and pharmacy students. At that time, Iraq was under sanctions and medications were scarce, so Dr. Rasheed’s herbal medicine was a vital source of treatment for patients.
Melanie/ميلاني: From here, we draw on the ancient wisdom of our ancestors.
