Established in the late 80’s, The Fairfax Companies began in sand/gravel and then landfills. Many Tucsonans know its main recycling facility as the “Speedway dump” but it’s so much more than that! When the company founder’s son Jason Tankersley (aka “Tank”) took ownership, he began to focus on more sustainable solutions for handling Tucson’s waste. He set up recycling programs for cardboard, plastics, metals, concrete, landscape waste/plant material (aka green waste), and many more.
Since January of this year, The Fairfax Companies is able to accept foam and Styrofoam for recycling!
The Weekly Green interviewed the company’s Emily Rockey, Director of Sales and Marketing.
