International Women’s Day “Balance for Better” on KXCI Tucson 91.3 FM

On Friday, March 8th, Tucson’s Community Radio KXCI 91.3FM, with support from the Marshall Foundation, celebrates International Women’s Day with the theme “Balance for Better” reminding us all that balance is not a women’s issue, it’s a business issue. The race is on for the gender-balanced boardroom, a gender-balanced government, gender-balanced media coverage, a gender-balance of employees, more gender-balance in wealth, gender-balanced sports coverage, etc. The theme will permeate the day’s programming. Connect with us for a day of inspiration and insight as we celebrate the music, power, courage, grace, strength, and camaraderie of women.

From 5:00 am to midnight,  DJs will curate music and messages that span generations and the globe. This special day will amplify women’s voices and share the beauty and power that is female by focusing on female forward music throughout the day.

Be sure to listen carefully between the music for featured segments from the Women’s Foundation’s Unidas participants. In line with our theme “Balance for Better,” KXCI asked Unidas Teens about “balance” in our society.

Question 1– Where in society do you see a need for better representation by women and why?
Question 2– What women currently in leadership roles, or not (could be a mom, or grandmother, or teacher), inspire you to step up and engage more as a leader or be more outspoken about supporting women and girls?
Question 3– What have you learned through UNIDAS and the Women’s Foundation that proves that a more gender-balanced society is of benefit for all?

Support for KXCI and International Women’s Day programming is provided by Marshall Foundation. Marshall Foundation enhances the lives of Tucson and Pima County women and families through support of charitable organizations involved in education, social services, and early childhood development.

A Special Thank You to all of our programmers participating in this special day and to those who are sharing their shows with this all-star female cast!

Special Thanks to the Women’s Foundation’s Unidas participants for featured segments that beautifully enhance our programming all day long.
