Hello! My name is Ramsey Martz, and I am a senior at the University of Arizona. I am a Biochemistry and Neuroscience double major with an emphasis in Neurobiology and a minor in German Studies. Currently, I work in the Schwartz Lab under Dr. Jacob Schwartz, who has two major projects running in his lab – one concerning the role of FUS protein in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and a new project investigating the properties of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) protein complex in COVID-19. My specific research looks at the similarities between COVID-19 with another infamous coronavirus that resulted in a pandemic, SARS. Outside of my research and schoolwork, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, hiking, and playing piano. Post graduation, I plan to apply to (and hopefully attend) medical school to study neurology or neuropsychiatry, and possibly participate in an M.D./Ph.D. program!
