          Petey can’t get to the mountains, but the mountains come to him. Lucky dude.

Monarda menthaefolia or bee balm is a spectacular wildflower. Well worth a trip into a pine forest to find it. And, by the way, an excellent nectar plant for butterflies, if  that is of interest to you.  Anyway, I feel so fortunate that I found one growing way downstream from any pine forest and it made my day.
