Episode 35: You Are My Other Me, Part One

It was pretty thoroughly exciting when Houda won a statewide award for English Language Learners and was honored at the Office of English Language Acquisition Services (OELAS) annual conference. It got even better when we met Miriam Romero, an English Language teacher at Carrillo K-5 Magnet School, who was there to receive the OELAS English Language Teacher of the Year award!

Houda, Miriam, and Melanie hit it off, and we are thrilled to be able to bring you part one of Houda’s interview with Miriam.

Miriam’s grandparents on both sides immigrated to the United States–from Russia and from Mexico. She is, in many ways, what Houda’s grand-daughter might be: American. From here. The American story.

هدى/Houda: انتم جزء مني

Miriam/مريم: Tu eres mi otro yo. You are my other me.
