If alt-bluegrass/alt-country were a sub-genre, the Steel Wheels would be its royalty. The band is at home in the creative space between tradition and modern innovation, guided by the familiar sounds of the Virginia Blue Ridge mountains where the band was formed.  Quickly staking their claim as independent upstarts in the burgeoning Americana scene, the band has gained experience from thousands of shows, and 100’s of festivals, including their own highly successful festival set in the Shenandoah Valley – The Red Wing Roots Festival, established in 2013. They heartily continue their mission set out over a decade ago; shaking up traditions to see what sticks, telling stories, and joining communities through song.
