The Nogales Buffalo Soldiers Legacy Association is dedicated to honoring the memory of the distinguished all-Black 25th Infantry and 10th Cavalry Regiments of the U.S. Army known as the Buffalo Soldiers. The Association is comprised of descendants and friends of Buffalo Soldiers that served at Camp Little, in Nogales, Arizona from 1910-1933.
The official celebration day is Saturday, January 27th and begins at the Nogales City Cemetery. Ceremonies are from 10:00-11:00am featuring the Fort Huachuca Color Guard and the B Troop Cavalry honoring the almost 70 Buffalo Soldiers buried there.
Starting at 1:00pm, events at Karam Park include Keynote Speaker John P Langellier, Buffalo Soldier historian and Tucson resident; local and statewide elected officials acknowledging the importance of the tribute; and students will perform dance and musical numbers.
The Pimeria Alta Museum will be open to view the Nogales Buffalo Soldiers Exhibit. There is also a planned walk to the Nogales International Border to view the historical border marker and sites.
