In partnership with our Northwest sister station KEXP and other independent radio stations in Austin, New York City, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and Vancouver, B.C., KXCI is proud to be participating in International Clash Day on Tuesday, February 7.
International Clash Day was founded by KEXP DJ John Richards four years ago as a way to celebrate the music of The Clash and its positive, inclusive messages of peace, unity, anti-imperialism, anti-racism, poverty awareness, and freedom of expression.
Along with these other participating cities, Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild has issued an official proclamation declaring February 7 as International Clash Day in Tucson and encourages all citizens to take inspiration from these messages as we work together to create an inclusive, welcoming city.
From 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., DJs El Toro, Bridgitte Thum, and Hannah Levin will be spinning Clash deep cuts and rarities, along with interview clips from the band itself, as well as exploring the ways in which the Clash was influenced by and continues to influence other artists with socially aware themes.
Please join us in celebrating the ways in which The Clash used the power of music to envision a more socially just and peaceful world! You can also read more about International Clash Day in this Zocalo feature that includes interviews with KEXP DJ John Richards and KXCI Home Stretch host and Director of Content Hannah Levin.
