About One Way Sky
One Way Sky is an Indigenous alternative rock band from the Gila River Indian Community and the Tohono O’odham Nation in southern Arizona. From the beginning, the band has been rooted in connection—using music as a way to reflect, express, and grow together. Blending alternative rock with warm melodies and subtle soul, their sound is shaped by the land they come from. You can hear the desert in it—the sunset tones, open space, and steady rhythm of something timeless. Their music feels like movement: emotional, reflective, and always heading somewhere honest. The band includes Adrian D. Thomas (vocals, guitar, flute), Cody Bruguier (drums), Lomakoyva Manuel (lead guitar), and Damien Carlos (bass). Each member brings their own energy and background into the mix, and together they’ve built something grounded in respect, trust, and shared vision. Over time, they’ve grown into a sound that feels fully their own. In 2025, One Way Sky signed with IndieGroove Records, beginning a new chapter of creative momentum. A year earlier, in 2024, the band was honored with nominations for Best Alternative Recording and Best Rock Recording at the Native American Music Awards—a moment that reminded them how powerful it is to stay true to your path and represent where you come from. Their name—One Way Sky—represents a clear direction: forward. The visual identity of the band is inspired by the colors of their homeland—burnt orange, dusty blue, twilight purple, and starlight gold. Their art, like their music, is a reflection of where they’ve been and where they’re headed. At its heart, One Way Sky is about making music that means something—to themselves, to their people, and to anyone looking for something real to hold onto. There’s only one way—and that’s toward the sky.
