KXCI is having a party to celebrate Pepe Galvez’s retirement on the Hotel Congress plaza on Tuesday, May 27th, from 6 pm to 9 pm. This free, community-focused event is a great chance for his listeners to celebrate, connect, and enjoy some fantastic music from DJ Butta Fly and KXCI DJs. Pepe has been a significant part of our KXCI family, and this is our chance to show him some love. We hope you can make it!

Pepe has been part of KXCI programming since the station’s very early days. His incredible music knowledge, expansive music collection and sense of humor, yet humble personality, became a beloved presence on the Tucson airwaves. His authentic voice and perspective represented the heritage of the barrios. And the fact that he is a Tucson native with an authentic personality and amazing musical selections made his weekly show Sabor del Bario appointment listening 

On January 1st, 2025, Pepe did his last program on KXCI. We were all saddened when Pepe decided it was time to hang up the headphones. Now it’s time for the community to celebrate Pepe’s retirement with him. It’s an opportunity for listeners to celebrate and thank Pepe for his years of dedication to sharing the sounds of the barrio.
