About Conjunto LaPira
Conjunto LaPira brings original Latin Rhythms and powerful social messages to the Tucson music scene.
Tucson, Arizona — Rising from the vibrant cultural landscape of Tucson, Conjunto LaPira is a dynamic six-piece band blending original songwriting with beloved Spanish-language covers to create a sound that is both timeless and deeply relevant. Rooted in tradition yet fearless in experimentation, the band combines rhythms such as cumbia, salsa, bossa nova, gypsy jazz, bolero, and other Latin and global influences to craft a musical experience that invites audiences to dance, reflect, and connect.
More than just a musical group, Conjunto LaPira is driven by a powerful artistic vision. Their original songs explore themes of feminism, social justice, and humanism, delivering thoughtful lyrics wrapped in vibrant melodies and rich arrangements. The band’s music celebrates community, resilience, and the power of collective voices.
The band features an ensemble of talented musicians whose diverse backgrounds shape its unique sound. Miroslava Hernandez leads with expressive vocals while also playing accordion and minor percussion. Christopher Aranda provides the rhythmic backbone on drums, while Pedro Molina anchors the group on bass and vocals. On guitars and vocals, Enrique “Kiki” Castellanos and Danny Perez weave melodic textures and harmonies that drive the band’s energetic performances and David Perez adds dynamic percussion that brings an unmistakable pulse to their music.
Together, the six musicians create performances that move seamlessly between heartfelt ballads, danceable rhythms, and socially conscious storytelling. Whether performing their original compositions or reimagining classic Spanish-language songs, Conjunto LaPira delivers shows filled with passion, musicality, and cultural pride.
With their growing presence in the Tucson music scene, Conjunto LaPira continues to build a reputation for engaging live performances that bring audiences together through rhythm, message, and celebration.
