Farwell, for now, to Saturday Morning Café and host Cheron Taylor
On Saturday November 12th, we wished a fond farewell to Saturday Morning Café host Cheron Taylor who is stepping down to spend more quality weekend time with her family. We’ll dearly miss her beautifully curated sets but are grateful that she will still be filling in on other shows as her schedule permits. Hannah Levin checked in with her to learn more about what’s next for this busy, music-loving mom (incidentally, the photo here was taken by her son and Future of Radio alum DJ Messy Boy).
What are you looking forward to doing with your Saturday mornings now?
In addition to Saturday mornings, there are a lot of disciplined weeknight evenings (and sometimes late Friday nights) that inform programming Saturday Morning Café, so I’ll be allocating more of that time to reading for myself and to the newly-minted reader in my family! More weekend road trips, early morning breakfasts and walks with my kiddo, and, of course, tuning in to KXCI!
What will you miss most about having a regular show?
So many things on so many levels. This has been an opportunity to connect with listeners here in Tucson and all over the map, a chance to entertain and to inform. I’ve been incredibly honored to have spent so many Saturday mornings doing that, especially during a time when many of us leaned heavily on our radios for the community connection offered by KXCI. I’ll miss hanging out in the chat with my radio friends, who teach me something new every week. I’ll miss sharing space with listeners as they enjoy their family time. I’ll miss it all! But, as The Spinners so aptly put it, “I’ll be around!”
About Saturday Morning Cafè
On Saturday Morning Cafè, DJ Cheron culled fresh sounds across genres–classic and vanguard tracks from decades past through the present moment. Soul, Latin, country, post punk, jazz, hip hop, psych, what have you. It was the perfect exploratory vibe to chart your weekend, lying on top of the rug that pulled it all together.
Formerly every Saturday 8am-10am on 91.3 KXCI FM. An archive of playlists available at kxci.org.
