UA Honors College student Sergio Salguero is a junior majoring in neuroscience with a minor in Spanish. He has many interests in the arts including painting, playing the piano and taking pictures. His goal is to pursue a PhD in neuroscience and to study the mechanisms of learning to improve upon them. As an EHS-TRUE scholar, Sergio works with Dr. Helena Morrison, an assistant professor of nursing, who is advancing pre-clinical stroke research. Support for this research comes from the College of Nursing, the Undergraduate Biology Research Program, and the EHS-TRUE program (funded by the National Institutes of Health).

The University of Arizona’s Undergraduate Biology Research Program is partnering with KXCI 91.3 to produce “Thesis Thursday,” a weekly segment featuring student researchers talking about their undergraduate thesis projects, or research projects while working with University professors. Students describe their research, their overall goals and career interests and where they think their research will lead. As well, they get a chance to share the music and interests that motivate them.

Broadcast three times every Thursday on KXCI.org and 91.3 FM with a new student each week.

Thursdays: 9:55 AM, 11:55 AM, and 2:55 PM

Thesis Thursday is recorded at KXCI 91.3 FM community radio in downtown Tucson, Arizona.

Produced by Bridgitte Thum
