I’m Rachel Bear and I am a junior majoring in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science and Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Spanish. I am fascinated about understanding biological processes at the molecular level, in particular I am interested in studying neurodegenerative diseases. I have the opportunity to work in Dr. Daniela Zarnescu’s lab, which studies mechanisms of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) using a fruit fly model. I am passionate about research and want to go to graduate school to earn a PhD in neuroscience. In my free time I enjoy hiking, cooking, and making art.
