Thesis Thursday- Daniela Gutierrez
My name is Daniela Gutierrez-Muñoz and I am a recent graduate from the University of Arizona. I attained my Bachelors of Science in Microbiology with a minor in Biochemistry. At the university, I’ve have incredible opportunities to get involved with research. I was a part of the Undergraduate Biology Research Program’s Prozkoumat! and I also had the opportunity to work in Dr. Ramin’s plant sciences lab for almost two years. These have all been great experiences that have taught me a lot and also helped me take significant steps towards my future goals. I’ll soon be moving to Maryland to work at the FDA and continue to perform scientific research there. After that, I am aim to attend graduate school and obtain a PhD in Microbiology/Infectious Diseases so that I can work at health organizations, such as the CDC or WHO, to combat infectious diseases among humans.
The University of Arizona’s Undergraduate Biology Research Program is partnering with KXCI 91.3 to produce “Thesis Thursday,” a weekly segment featuring student researchers talking about their undergraduate thesis projects, or research projects while working with University professors. Students describe their research, their overall goals and career interests and where they think their research will lead. As well, they get a chance to share the music and interests that motivate them.
