Hello! My name is Nick Mortimore and I recently graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology. While those titles might seem big and scary (they were to me for quite some time), my four years at the University of Arizona were spent learning about the cells that make up our bodies and the fascinating processes beyond what the human eye can see. During my degree program I conducted research on Lou Gehrig’s disease (I spoke about this research on KXCI a few years ago) and more recently on how the tiny machines in our cells known as proteins carry out their cool functions. Outside of the lab, I love playing piano, hanging out with my two cats, hiking when it’s colder outside, and exploring Tucson’s food. I’m currently applying to graduate school to continue doing biology research and work towards my PhD.
