For 10 years, the Dusk Music Festival has brought music, art, and people together in downtown Tucson. What started as an idea among friends has grown into a two-day event that celebrates local talent and puts Tucson on the map as a destination for live music.
The festival takes place near the main library at Jácome Plaza in downtown Tucson. It features more than 40 artists, four stages, and a mix of local live music, food, art, and interactive experiences.
Page Repp, Founder of the Dusk Music Festival, said the idea for Dusk came from a desire to bring bigger music events to Tucson. Growing up and attending college in Tucson, Rep noticed that many major concerts and events were held in Phoenix.
Repp and a group of friends wanted to create something special for their hometown. They hoped to give people a reason to stay in Tucson and feel proud of a large-scale local event.
Supporting local artists and businesses has also been an important part of the festival’s mission. Dusk works with local food vendors, suppliers, musicians, and artists to highlight what Tucson has to offer.
The festival also has a stage dedicated to local performers, a band and DJ contest, and art installations created by local artists. Rep said Dusk works with the University of Arizona and commissions artists to create work for the event.
One of the goals is to give new artists, especially young professionals, a chance to earn money doing what they love and gain real-world experience.
As Dusk celebrates its 10th year, its mission remains the same: bring people together, support local creativity, and give Tucson a music festival the community can call its own.
