A lot of clicking and clacking and rustling of my notes in this episode. Apologies.
Lemme see, a couple things: the bigtooth maple is no longer in its own family of Aceraceae, but is in Sapindaceae. And, I’ve noticed that when I pronounce grandidentatum. I tend to neglect the i and so I miss a syllable. Sorry.
Hey, across the southwest Acer grandidentatum ranges from 4,000 to 7,000 ft. in elevation. I love the lower elevation maples you find in the canyons that meander down mountains. Cave Creek Canyon in the Chiricahuas has bigtooth maples and I remember admiring them in Ramsey Canyon of the Huachuca Mountains. I’m guessing you have a favorite canyon or mountainside where you find bigtooth maples.

The photo of the bigtooth maple in its fall glory is taken from SEINet and by Max Licher. Great photo and I thank him.
