In this episode of Nonprofit Spotlight, Stephanie Engs is joined by Xavier and Maya from Amphi Liberation Mutual Aid, also known as ALMA. The conversation explores ALMA’s mission to support both unhoused and housed neighbors in the underserved Amphi area and surrounding neighborhoods through community-driven care.

Xavier and Maya share how ALMA provides essential resources, including hygiene supplies, harm reduction materials, clothing, and food during their weekly Tuesday evening distributions, serving nearly 100 people each week. They discuss their vision for building systems rooted in solidarity, dignity, and advocacy by creating a “third space” through partnerships with local businesses, health practitioners, and volunteers who offer services such as wound care, haircuts, acupuncture, and bike repair.

Connect with ALMA or support their efforts by finding them on Instagram at @alma520az or their website.
