The Arizona Trail Ambassador Program is an 8-month internship program for youth in the Tucson area who aspire to be ethical naturalists, land stewards, and who want to deepen their relationship with nature through a transformative rite-of-passage experience. Mentored by Treven Hooker, the ATA’s Youth Outreach & Education Coordinator, youth will become proficient at birding, wildlife tracking, friction fire, hiking, backpacking, and self reliance, all while while venturing into incredible desert and mountain locations surrounding Tucson.
In partnership with the North American Association for Environmental Education, Pima County, and the Tucson Audubon Society, interns will receive several certifications demonstrating their expertise and hard work. Graduates will be recognized as Arizona Rising Naturalists, Tucson Audubon Society Field Guides, and Arizona Trail Ambassadors.
