About Gat Moony
Gat Moony is the solo project of singer-songwriter/guitarist/producer Gabi Montoya, the leader of Tucson bands Taco Sauce and Juju Fontaine, the previous vehicle for her solo songwriting.
Known for her big, soulful voice and unique interpretation of retro-inspired rock n roll, Montoya honed her skills as a band leader with near constant gigging all over the Southwest during the years leading up to the pandemic.
After being thrust into solitude when her band’s spring 2020 tour was cut short, she moved to Seattle and turned to her solo songwriting, recording and self-releasing several singles from home.
The unexpected and traumatic end of her 8 year relationship ignited a songwriting frenzy that became the material for her upcoming debut solo album “Into Belief,” to be released in Fall of 2026. She has also resurrected her punk-ish band Taco Sauce with a new lineup and two new singles,“Payaso” and “Milk Toast.”
After spending the last few years moving around the country with her fiancé looking for the right place to settle down, Gabi is officially back home in Tucson, AZ, her favorite place in the world.
Gat Moony is playing solo at Poe’s on May 16th with Raven and the Acolytes, and Taco Sauce is opening for Stepmom at Club Congress on June 4th along with New Misphoria.
