KXCI commemorates the 155th anniversary of Juneteenth on Friday, June 19th. The day begins with Mario, host of The Gospel Truth, guest-hosting Your Morning Brew with inspirational Gospel and R & B music, from slavery through the Civil Rights Movement, with information about the history of Juneteenth and Black Wall Street, and LGBTQ social justice news. Spreading the Word host Minister Johnona will host from 10-11 am, and DJ Wesley Rae from 11-noon. Saturday Morning Cafe host Cheron will cover the mix from 1-3pm. From 3-6 pm, Soul Stories founder Dr. Tyina Steptoe will host The Home Stretch KXCI. The Wire Service and Electric Feel round out this day of reflection and jubilee, participating in a tradition of local, public celebration.
