KXCI hosts the US radio premiere of “Killer” from XIXA‘s debut full length Bloodline on The Home Stretch. Released February 26, 2016 on Barbès Records, Bloodline melds elements of southwestern inspired desert rock with the psychedelic cumbia stylings born out of the Peruvian Amazon.
XIXA hails from the Tucson indie rock scene—core members Brian Lopez and Gabriel Sullivan have their own solo projects and are also members of Giant Sand. Brian notes “Winston played for Alice Cooper and Bob Dylan in the 90s. Efren ONLY knows Latin music, and didn’t know Led Zeppelin,” . “You put them together,” that core combination of hard rock drums and Efren’s timbales, “and it’s XIXA.
Killer starts off with those timbales, adds rock drums, exotic lead guitar & keyboard melodies, and a booming cumbia bass.
