Hi there! My name is Matthew Chaung and I am currently a senior studying Molecular and Cellular Biology, with minors in Biochemistry and Spanish. Through the UBRP program I have been able to nurture my life-long love of learning and exploring new frontiers in research. I work in the lab of Dr. Daniela Zarnescu and my research project is looking at the role of copper transport in the context of human disease and motor neuron degeneration. After graduating from the U of A in May, my goal is to attend medical school to become a primary care physician. Outside of the lab I enjoy photographing nature and architecture, hiking trails with friends, and exploring Tucson.
