Lindsey A. Chew is a graduating senior majoring in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science at the University of Arizona. Beginning next fall, she will continue her education and pursue an MD/PhD through Duke University School of Medicine’s Medical Scientist Training Program. Lindsey’s passion for science was planted when she first joined the Khanna Laboratory in August 2014. There, she has learned diverse research techniques for assessing both holistic and detailed effects of novel pain-relieving drug candidates on the peripheral nervous system. This has blossomed and drawn her to a physician-scientist career. Ultimately, Lindsey’s experiences in research and as both a seeing-guide dog puppy raiser and volunteer at Arizona’s School for the Deaf and Blind have converged to inspire her pursuit of ophthalmology and vision-oriented research.
