Denise Moreno Ramírez is a doctoral student at The University of Arizona’s Department of Soil, Water, and Environmental Science and the School of Anthropology. She specializes in community-engaged research where she partners with individuals that are living next to contamination (dissertation project link: www.voicesunheard.sites.arizona.edu). Moreno Ramírez is originally from Ambos Nogales and had the privilege to work for 12 years on border environmental issues before returning to school.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a Biology emphasis and a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish from Northern Arizona University and a Master of Science in Watershed Management from the University of Arizona. Moreno Ramírez is involved in services activities ranging from graduate student mentorship to an indigenous magazine board member to volunteering as a student scholarship and grant reviewer. One interesting thing about her is that she ran the Mountain Lemmon Marathon.
