Pedaling the Pueblo – Street Ambassador Team to Gather Public Input for Move Tucson
In this episode we chat with Selina Barajas a planner and community organizer working to bring Street Ambassadors from the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility out to communities to gather input from people for the Move Tucson master plan initiative.
Street Ambassadors receive stipends to work out in the community and talk to folks about their transportation planning priorities. You’ll see them at grocery stores, community centers, transit centers or where ever people are during their normal day-to-day lives. This is different from traditional forms of public engagement which requires people to take time out of their days to attend an open house or public meeting if they wanted their voices heard.
Selina talks about her hopes for the program, and planning in general, and how she envisions it can be more inclusive of all kinds of folks in the community.
