Penny Bussell Stansfield, BA(Hons), AdvCD(DONA), BDT(DONA), LCCE, CLC, LMT, MAP., is a DONA International Certified Birth Doula and Doula Trainer and teaches birth doula training workshops all over Arizona. She was a board-certified licensed massage therapist and taught prenatal massage nationwide at graduate level. She is committed to improving maternity care for all, one birth at a time and to mentoring new doulas on their journey. She is a Lamaze Certified Educator and a Certified Lactation Counselor. Before moving to the US, she worked as a certified childbirth educator and a language teacher in France and her native UK for 20 years. In the 1990’s, she was a founder member of Desert Doulas nonprofit organization in Tucson. She is currently an educator with Arizona Community Doula Collective, a non profit organization in Arizona, offering support, education and guidance through pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period especially to those experiencing social or economic hardship. Arizona Community Doula Collective is committed to reproductive equity and the belief that no one should navigate life’s most sacred transitions alone. The organization also serves as a way for new doulas to be mentored, to obtain further education and community.
