Pedaling the Pueblo – E-Bikes, an Update!

A lot in Tucson has changed since we last reported on E-Bikes and James Lorentzen from Pedego Electric Bikes is on our show to catch us up and fill us in. (James is on the right in the photo above.)

For one, you can use them on all multi-use paths (MUPs) in the City and County – yes, even the Loop – thanks to Arizona state law signed into law earlier this year by Governor Ducey. Arizona House Bill 2266 allows for their use by not classifying e-bikes as motor vehicles (to clear up any confusion with the Loop, the Loop guidelines state no motor vehicles can use the Loop, but since the e-bikes aren’t motor vehicles, they can!).

Here’s a handy guide put out by the People for Bikes which summarizes our local legislation on the issue.

So, now that you know you can ride them where ever you want, what are you waiting for??

Pedaling the Pueblo – E-Bikes, an Update!

Pedaling the Pueblo is a mini-program and podcast that connects people to news and information about Tucson’s bicycle culture. A collective of bicycle enthusiasts host and produce weekly programs covering a wide variety of topics. From community events to questions about how bicycle funding works; tips to start riding more to interviews with local bicycling legends, Pedaling the Pueblo explores life on two wheels from a “people first” approach, allowing us all to have an open dialogue about how people move through our shared built environment.

Content is responsive to and driven by the community, so if you have a question or topic you’d like to hear covered, email us at [email protected]. You can also find us on Facebook.
