Lila-Downs Today on 30 Minutes, Neto Portillo, Jr. interviews Lila Downs ahead of her Tuesday, September 22nd show at the Fox Theatre, presented by The Rialto Theatre. Lila Downs has one of the world’s most singular voices and innovative approaches to music. Born in the state of Oaxaca México, she is the daughter of a Mixtec Indian woman, Anastasia Sanchez, who ran away from her village at 15 to sing in Mexico City cantinas and a University of Minnesota professor Allen Downs, who saw her singing and fell in love.

Songs include La Cumbia del Mole (4:08) from Lila Downs y la Misteriosa en Paris, World Village 4:08; La Farsante (4:17) from Balas y Chocolate with Lila Downs con Juan Gabriel.

Produced by Amanda Shauger
