Lalo-Alcaraz-Border-Town On September 24th, 2015 REA Media Group President/CEO Raul E. Aguirre and the YWCA of Tucson presented Chicano cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz in an event entitled “An Evening of Deconstructing Chicano Satire,” cosponsored by UA Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry and UA’s Spanish and Portuguese Department.

Lalo Alcaraz is a consulting producer and writer for the upcoming Fox Television animated series, Bordertown. Alcaraz made remarks and screened advance copies of the pilot and another episode of Bordertown, created by Family Guy writer Mark Hentemann and executive-produced by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane that will follow two families living in a Southwest desert town on the United States–Mexico border. It will premiere January 3, 2016 on Fox.

Award-winning satirist, artist, political cartoonist, hell-raiser and trailblazer Lalo Alcaraz is well-known as the man behind the first nationally-syndicated, politically-themed Latino daily comic strip, “La Cucaracha”. His critical examinations of attitudes towards Latinos in America have been at the forefront of Latino/Chicano activism. Most recently, Alcaraz was hired by Pixar/Disney as a consultant for the upcoming 2017 Día de los Muertos animated film “Coco.”
