This week on Thesis Thursday, KXCI welcomes Jenna Franco to the station.
“Jenna attends the University of Arizona where she is double majoring in Neuroscience and Computer Science. She’s conducted research in various labs during the past 2.5 years, including a lab in the Czech Republic where she studied ticks and disease transmission in the summer of 2015 as part of the Prozkoumat! Research Program. Currently she is finishing up her honor’s thesis research project in the Koshy Lab where she studies Alzheimer’s Disease in a mouse model.
Jenna has a passion for teaching and during the school year works as a math and science tutor at the UA Think Tank Tutoring Center, as well as a Section Leader for the Computer Science Department. She’s very excited to be a Teaching Assistant this summer for Girls Who Code, a non-profit organization offering summer immersion programs with the goal of inspiring high school girls to pursue computer science degrees. During her free time, Jenna enjoys hiking, rock climbing, listening to audiobooks (currently working on The Name of the Wind), doing art projects and just being silly.”
Thesis Thursday is produced at KXCI studios by Bridgitte Thum.
