0:02: From KXCI Tucson, this is Bonus Tracks.
0:05: I am DJ Oily and I want to talk about one of the highest-rated albums from the rapper MF Doom, Madvillainy.

Music Sample: (0:26) “Bistro” from the album Madvillany 2004, Stones Throw Records

0:31: I’m going to be explaining this album’s history and how it was treated when it first came out.
0:42: Madvillainy was released to the public on March 23, 2004, and it was produced by Madlib.
0:48: Which made it MF Doom’s second studio produced album after Take Me to Your Leader, his last album.
0:55: As soon as the album came out, it was one of its highest rated from his fans and critics alike, which increased his popularity greatly.

Music Sample: (0:17) “The Illest Villains” from the album Madvillainy 2004, Stones Throw Records

1:18 Most of Doom’s songs take on an underground hip hop rap style, which basically means he sings in more of a conversation style, and this album is no exception.

Music Sample: (0:29) “Money Folder” from the album Madvillainy 2004, Stones Throw Records

1:55: If I had to describe this album in one word, I would say that it’s very abstract and has a relaxing vibe to it.

Music Sample: (0:11) “Money Folder” from the album Madvillainy 2004, Stones Throw Records

2:10: Most tracks on this album feature MF Doom and Mad Villain, which many people believe are the same person, but that is actually incorrect, but they are very, very closely related.

Music sample: (0:13) “Bistro” from the album Madvillany 2004, Stones Throw Records

2:29: Just lay back and have a good time, you know what I’m saying Madvillainy has an interesting meaning behind it.
2:36: Doom and mad villain talk about an identity crisis and not knowing who you are on Earth, and to make it feel like that, Madlib stitches samples and raw sound like for example, a clock or drilling or anything like that to form the feeling of changing personalities.

Music Sample: (0:25) “Rainbows” from the album Madvillany 2004, Stones Throw Records

3:09: I think overall this is a great album and it has been very inspirational to other artists and rappers and is one of my all-time favorites.
3:18: Today we discussed MF Doom’s 2004 album Madvillainy and the effect it had on rap, and thanks for listening to me yap.
3:26: I’m DJ Oily and you have been listening to Bonus Tracks.
