Carolyn Harper is a Next Generation Park Ranger at Saguaro National Park, a career development program to incentivize and train young people for park service and related careers. One of Carolyn’s main duties is coordinating a “citizen science” program that brings people into the park to help record vital information about the saguaro population. Here she talks about the Centennial Saguaro Survey, how temperature and precipitation impact saguaro populations, and the delightful discovery of healthy young saguaros in the Park.
