Amanda is the Director of Operations and Donor Relations for 91.3 KXCI Community Radio in Tucson, Arizona. Amanda is part of KXCI’s leadership team. In Operations, she works with our team to ensure that KXCI’s technical systems are healthy and improving, from the office copier to our transmitters.

In her Donor Relations role, Amanda coordinates fundraising to expand KXCI’s capacity to deliver exceptional programming. She helps listeners turn their passion for KXCI into impact through on-air fundraising drives, donor-advised funds, gifts of stock, retirement distributions, estates, events, and more. She also supervises the Underwriting department.

She began her radio career by taking KXCI’s DJ class in 1998 and soon became a volunteer music programmer, then a regular Music Mix DJ through 2015. What began as an interest developed into a passion and a career through learning by doing. 

In 2004, Amanda learned basic field recording and digital editing and began to record interviews, lectures, and community events featuring local, national, and international guests. She went on to create, host, and produce the half-hour weekly public affairs program 30 Minutes from 2005 to 2020. She continues to supervise KXCI’s spoken word programming.

Being part of KXCI has enhanced her relationship with the communities of Tucson and Southern Arizona by meeting the people who continuously strive to make this a better place to live and work. She can often be found pedaling downtown in search of live music or a tasty treat.

Valentina Andrew

Valentina Andrew is a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation and is currently involved in storytelling via podcasting. Also known as Tina, she has a background in Life Science and for many years enjoyed working in the STEM field, before shifting careers, where she transitioned into podcasting, and broadcasting, to which she now works in the radio industry. Tina is the Production Coordinator at KXCI Community Radio, and is the host of Cultivating Indigenous Voices, as well as an on-air DJ known as Lady T host of The Dinner Party playing funk and soul. Outside of KXCI, Tina is the Executive Producer of Tohono O’odham Young Voices, a podcast that has been running since 2016, and is a platform to share accurate cultural and contemporary versions of the O’odham narrative. Tina is currently pursuing her musical journey as an accordionist, performing with her family ensemble, the Vavages Family Band playing waila music, which is an instrumental social dance music native to the O’odham communities in the Sonoran Desert region of southern Arizona.

Bridgitte Thum

Fifth-generation Tucsonan Bridgitte Thum is a mother, artist, radio producer, and on-air host. Beginning her professional life in film and television at age five, she had an early awareness that “movie magic” is a product of collective time and effort, from a variety of dedicated people with a variety of special skills.  These early experiences were fundamental to the collaborative, can-do attitude that carries a sense of excited possibility into her creative work in community radio. A lifelong music and art lover, she grew up discovering songs through the radio, watching 1980s and 90s MTV, exploring her parents’ vinyl collection, while painting, sewing, singing, writing satirical lyrics, and crafting thoughtful mix tapes. She remains delighted to share music that she believes is essential and honest. 

She began volunteering at KXCI Community Radio in 2014 after being active in Tucson’s local comedy scene. Since 2009, she has performed on countless stages, participated in long-running radio comedy productions, storytelling events, emceed for short film contests, produced live variety shows, and multiple podcasts. 

Bridgitte serves as KXCI’s Production Manager, supporting programmers, training DJs, encouraging youth broadcasters, producing multiple programs and messages, recording interviews, reviewing new music, and hosting music mixes. She hosts Research Matters, The Friday Afternoon Music Mix (The Bridge Mix), and co-hosts Locals Only on Monday nights. 

Around the station, she’s also known for her chalkboard art, creative problem solving, quick reflexes, station decorating, and helping to keep the KXCI house lively and welcoming.

Stephanie Engs

Stephanie Engs (she/her/hers), aka DJ Wesley Rae, is a community connector, radio host, and teaching artist who blends the creative with the practical across media, education, and nonprofit leadership. With nearly two decades of experience in arts, entertainment, and nonprofit administration and management.

Beginning as a volunteer at KXCI in 2013 and, since 2021, serving as Director of Education and Community Engagement, Stephanie develops and delivers, alongside the KXCI education team, youth and adult broadcasting programs that cultivate emerging community broadcasters, amplify local voices, and foster media literacy and music appreciation. KXCI is a volunteer-driven organization, and Stephanie works closely with volunteers whose knowledge and passion sustain the station’s mission and broadcast. As a producer of the KXCI mini-program Nonprofit Spotlight, she highlights the work of Southern Arizona nonprofit organizations. She also engages in community partnerships, often finding new collaborations through her conversations with local organizations. 

Stephanie approaches radio as both an art form and a public service. Her work sits at the intersection of storytelling, access, and civic engagement, grounded in a commitment to equity, inclusion, and community care. She believes deeply in the power of local media to hold complexity, build belonging, and reflect the cultural tapestry of the region. As DJ Wesley Rae, she brings an idiosyncratic sensibility to the Wednesday Afternoon Music Mix, weaving the loose threads of the world we share through music and exploring sound as the fabric of connection and collective memory.

Beyond her professional work, Stephanie is committed to being of service through volunteerism and nonprofit board leadership. When she isn’t immersed in her work, Stephanie can be found experimenting in the kitchen, traveling, dancing to live music, at the movies, or exploring creative practices that keep her curious.

I first became a member of KXCI in 1987 after moving back to Tucson to attend the UA. Started assisting Program Director Mike Landwehr behind the scenes at KXCI in January of 1999 and became volunteer Music Director that year, then part-time, then a full-time staff member/Music Director. Bringing a love of music and a background in recording and mixing to the KXCI studios. Some highlights of the last twenty-five+ years include: partnering with host Don Jennings to create a one hour live performance segment to the Locals Only program in 2000 (?); introduced KXCI to streaming content in 2000, helping to equip and open Studio 2A for live studio sessions in 2001; engineering around 2,000 live to broadcast radio sessions with local, national and international artists; producing and releasing over 20 KXCI CD compilations; championed the proliferation of locally based mini-programs to the airwaves of KXCI; assisting in creating video content of our radio sessions and leading a team to produce live streaming video content; helping to facilitate the availability of new music to the airwaves at KXCI and working with a collective of outstanding volunteer programmers and staff to curate and broadcast the sound of KXCI and Tucson to the airwaves and the world. Proud to be part of this team of volunteers and staff that make our community a better place through music!

Jaime J. Soto

Jaime J. Soto is a Tucson native with Mexican-American and Chicano roots. He is a proud member of the local LGBTQ artistic community as a performer, music producer, and co-host of the Snacks radio program on Monday nights at 6pm on KXCI.

Jaime J. discovered KXCI in the early 2000s when he became a weekly listener of The Ska Box with Zoe. He soon became a devoted listener to shows like The Hub, Democracy Now, Your Morning Brew, and The Home Stretch. In 2008, Jaime J. completed KXCI’s orientation and Adult DJ courses and became an official volunteer for the station, helping with music mail sorting, tabling at public events, and hosting the Monday Afternoon Music Mix. 

In 2014, Jaime J. brought Eleven2Heaven, a.k.a. TrainwReck Radio, to the KXCI airwaves alongside his dear friend Skye Shadowz. The pair featured diverse artists, genres, and live guests, ranging from Tucson’s Desert Drone collective to independent Australian group Friendships. Eleven2Heaven retired after eleven years in 2025, but Jaime J. and Skye launched the new program Snacks in 2026, where they serve a weekly sampling of genre-fluid new releases, throwbacks, and features every Monday evening from 6 till 8 pm. 

Jaime J. joined the KXCI staff in 2022 as Music Coordinator and also assists with Locals Only bookings, KXCI’s social media, and educational programs. You can catch Jaime J.’s New Music Feature every Wednesday at 9:30 am on Your Morning Brew with Jim Blackwood.

Music and community have always been a part of Ann’s life growing up in Tucson. Inspired by her family’s deep love of music and attending many meaningful concerts with her grandfather as a kid, she knew by age 15 that she wanted to become a DJ. Long before that, Ann was already collecting and cataloging music, buying her first CD at just six years old, with money earned from a lemonade stand, and learning to play multiple instruments along the way.

Ann has worked as a professional club DJ for over a decade, holding residencies in cities including Los Angeles and Las Vegas. From 2016 to 2018, she also co-ran a Tucson-based house music collective, creating spaces for the community to gather, celebrate music and dance in safe spaces.

She joined KXCI in November 2018 as a volunteer DJ on Electric Feel, later developing and teaching her own Live DJ workshop curriculum. In April 2022, she joined the KXCI staff, passionately continuing her work connecting people through music and community radio.

Outside the station, Ann is also a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher at Yoga Oasis, where she shares her passion for movement, mindfulness, and community. She is the proud mom to Penny, her Siamese cat companion, and enjoys spending time in nature and with friends and family.

Hannah Levin

Hannah Levin’s relationship with music began in childhood through parents who appreciated the Stones as much as the Beatles and blossomed via a pre-teen obsession with Olivia Newton-John. Her adolescent years were fully dominated by a devotion to heavy metal that evolved into a love of the punk and alternative rock that defined the cultural landscape of her Seattle home in the ‘90s.

Before her ten-year tenure at Seattle’s KEXP, she was a print journalist whose work appeared in Rolling Stone, SPIN, BUST, and in the form of weekly music columns for both The Stranger and Seattle Weekly. She relocated to Tucson and KXCI in 2015 where she currently serves as the host of the weekday afternoon show, The Home Stretch, books in-studio guests, assists with grant writing endeavors, and helps curate KXCI’s library.

A tireless live music fan, Hannah adores Tucson’s diverse and thriving creative sonic scene and can often be found at local shows, championing both burgeoning and veteran artists. She lives near downtown with two tuxedo cats named Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson, as well as a magnificent mutt named Odi that she adopted in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Elva De La Torre

Elva De La Torre is the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants and the first Latinx Executive Director of KXCI Community Radio. She began her involvement with KXCI as a volunteer in 2010. Elva grew up in Los Angeles in the 80s, listening to FM radio and driving to concerts all over the Southland. After studying Media Communications she worked in community education and training for over 20 years, including a decade-long stint with the Peace Corps in Latin American and Asia. There, she navigated the complexities of being Queer and BIPOC while operating in spaces where colonialism and resistance co-exist. Elva is a ceramic artist and enjoys birding throughout the Borderlands. She lives on Tucson’s Westside with her wife and can be heard on KXCI Fridays at 10am.

Kristina Montoya grew up in a family where music was always playing. Some of her favorite childhood memories are of her dad tapping along to songs or playing the congas while her mom danced and sang throughout the house. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong love of music and the connections it creates.

Before joining KXCI, Kristina worked in promotions at iHeartMedia and later at the Rialto Theatre as a business partnership manager, where she saw firsthand how music brings communities together. Whether it was a concert, a local event, or a favorite song on the radio, she loved being part of experiences that connect people.

Since 2021, Kristina has worked behind the scenes at KXCI as Traffic Manager. She works closely with the underwriting team to coordinate contracts and schedule sponsor messages, billing, and accounting, helping keep everything running smoothly so listeners can enjoy the programming they love. She feels lucky to be part of a station that celebrates music, community, culture, and the unique spirit of Southern Arizona.

When she’s not at the station, Kristina enjoys spending time with her family, creating art, supporting local businesses, and finding inspiration in the people and places that make Tucson special.
