Tucson Toros is a self-proclaimed desert stoner rock band comprised of veteran musicians and friends Dustyn Farlow, Andy Francis, Geoffrey Hidalgo, Fred Huang, Dave McGann, and Fernando Rivas. The band is built from members of well-known Tucson acts such as XIXA, Holy Rolling Empire, Minibosses, The Pangs, Got Bit, Asian Fred, Of the Painted Choir, Ph8, Rodeo Weekend, Sleep Driver, You Apart, and more; and in addition to playing, members bring significant experience with recording, having engineered records by Asian Fred, Of The Painted Choir, and some of Arizona’s best-known national heavy rock bands like The Bled, The American Black Lung, and Blues.
The new album, “Teeth On The Board,” is the product of this experience and skill coalescing over 4 years as members of the band (which was born out of the 2020 Covid Pandemic) navigated monumental life experiences and milestones—children, sobriety and addiction recovery, and a society changed by politics & technology. Everything about the record was carefully constructed—from the recording studio, which the band literally built in their practice space, to the carefully crafted pre-production process that took 6 months, to the recording itself, to the artwork. The result is a beautifully soaring LP that at times captures the listener with head-banging stoner rock riffs akin to Queens of The Stone Age, while at other times surprising with melodic pop-esque bliss driven by lead singer Fred Huang’s vocals. “This album represents important pinnacle moments of each band member’s lives as they traverse through life and the obstacles it provides,” says guitarist and songwriter Dustyn Farlow.
“Teeth On The Board” is available exclusively on a limited pressing of 150-gram vinyl (contact the band for more info). The album is also available on all streaming platforms. Fans can find earlier Tucson Toros EPs, “Too Old To Die” and “Psycho Evil Torment Danger,” on streaming platforms under the name “Toros.”
