The Tucson Flute Club will present “Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice” on Sunday, October 20, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (in the Sanctuary). The concert will feature the Southern Arizona Flute Orchestra performing seasonal music under the baton of Jack Schmidgall, Music Director. Autumn-themed music will include Something the Wind Forgot (Jiro Chiaki), Marionette (Sonoko Fujii), Danse Macabre (Camille St.-Saens), School Days (arr. Ricky Lombardo), and Masques (Anne McGinty), as well as Second Waltz from Jazz Suite No. 2 (Dmitri Shostakovich) and Hungarian Dance No. 5 (Johannes Brahms). The public is warmly invited. Admission is free, with donations appreciated.
The instrumentation for the concert will include six sizes of flutes – piccolo, C flute, alto flute, bass flute, contrabass flute, and sub-contrabass flute – encompassing seven octaves and producing a surprising, richly textured sound.
