Tom Farris, an Otoe-Missouria/Cherokee multimedia artist from Oklahoma, will share his art and inspirations in this illustrated talk. Inspired by traditional and contemporary Native American art and pop-culture, Farris’ work aways surprises and delights viewers. His award-winning art crosses over many art categories and includes a superhero vintage Volkswagen Jetta car, customized Viewmaster and reels, prints, digital images and more surprises. Recently, Farris was the illustrator for Arizona State Museum’s new exhibit, “Tricksters and Truthtellers: Different Ways of Seeing.”
Farris has participated in, and has received awards from, a number of art shows and he has exhibited at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. and in venues in New York City. His work is held in many private and public collections.
