TUCSON, AZ — Edge High School – Himmel Park invites students, families, and community members to a free STEM & Star Party Night on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 6:30–8:30 PM, at its Himmel Park campus. This family-friendly community event will bring together local science organizations, University of Arizona programs, and hands-on demonstrations designed to spark curiosity and inspire a love of science for learners of all ages.
Attendees can explore astronomy, engineering, environmental science, geology, space science, and more through interactive activities, live demonstrations, and engaging presentations. Food trucks will be on site, and raffle prizes will be available throughout the evening.
The event features participation from a wide range of community and university partners, including:
Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association – Telescope viewing set up on the southwest corner of the Catalina Methodist Church parking lot
Southern Arizona Reptile Rescue & Education – Live reptile demonstrations
Watershed Management Group – Interactive workshop and environmental information
SARSEF – Straw rocket engineering activities
Coronado National Forest – Educational demonstrations and information
University of Arizona Sky School – Astronomy presentations and information
UA School of Mining Engineering & Mineral Resources – Hands-on demos and activities
UA College of Engineering – Interactive activities and information sessions with UA students
University of Arizona Project WE – Interactive models and activities
University of Arizona Insect Discovery Program – Insect science demos and information
University of Arizona Wildcat Rocket Engineering Club – Rocket and ground equipment demonstrations
UA Wyant College of Optical Sciences – Optics demonstrations
UA Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research & Alfie Norville Gem and Mineral Museum – Joint presentations and demonstrations
UA Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences – Presentation on how space science technologies support groundwater research
“This event is about making science accessible, exciting, and fun for the entire community,” said Edge High School leadership. “Whether you’re looking through a telescope, launching a rocket, or learning about Arizona’s environment, there’s something here for everyone.”
The STEM & Star Party is free and open to the entire community. No registration is required, and all ages are welcome.
