Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience Spanish Fantasies, a rare lecture recital bringing the sounds, history and expressive power of Spanish piano music to Tucson.
Pianist Dr. Marina Bengoa Roldán commemorates the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla’s birth with an exploration of his electrifying Fantasia Baetica, drawing on materials from the composer’s personal archives to reveal the cultural and historical world behind the music. The program also features a striking new piano fantasy by Pascual Gimeno, composed in 2021, connecting De Falla’s legacy with a contemporary Spanish voice.
Through live performance and compelling insight, Bengoa reveals how flamenco and other Spanish musical traditions shape both works. This is a singular chance to hear these two compositions brought together in Tucson.
