The August Art Walk at the Southern Arizona Arts Guild (SAAG) Gallery will be all about class, art classes that is, and there are plenty to choose from. The Gallery, which is located at the La Encantada Shopping Center, will host an event on Thursday, August 8 from 4 pm to 7 pm, where some of SAAG’s popular art instructors will be on hand with samples of what they are teaching this fall and flyers about classes that visitors can take home.
“We plan to have computers on hand so if anyone wants to register online that night, they will be able to do so,” said Events Committee Chair Caryn Stedman. “Plus, attendees will have the opportunity to enter for a chance to win going to the class of their choice for free!”
For the most part, SAAG classes are designed for beginners, to encourage creativity, and teach the necessary skills to get started. Teachers provide the materials, and most classes last about 2 hours. All are taught in the back room of the gallery.
“I believe everyone has talent, sometimes it is just a matter of discovering it,” continued Stedman. “Meeting the teachers and learning what each class involves should help potential students to decide what is right for them.”
That evening the Art Walk will also include a raffle table where people can bid on items donated by the teachers to raise money for the SAAG Scholarship Program. As always, refreshments will be available.
The SAAG Gallery is located at 2905 E. Skyline Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718. The Gallery is on the first level close to the Apple Store. For more information visit online at www.southernarizonaartsguild.com and click on Art Walk.
