Step inside the myth in the University of Arizona Opera Theater’s immersive new production of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice. This is not a traditional sit-down opera: the performance begins outdoors, moves with the audience into Crowder Hall, and reimagines the space by flipping the usual relationship between stage and seating.
Inspired by the ancient story of a musician who journeys into the underworld to reclaim his lost love, Orfeo ed Euridice explores grief, trust, transformation and the power of hope through Gluck’s luminous music, expressive staging and dynamic movement.
With the audience drawn directly into the theatrical journey, this production offers a rare opportunity to experience one of opera’s most enduring works from an entirely new perspective.
