MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH THE PEOPLE! A RESISTANCE SHOWCASE AT THE HISTORIC Y

SUPPORT
Learn about actions others are taking, make meaningful connections with those who reflect your values, and leave with the knowledge of how to get involved and make a difference!

May the Fourth Be with the People! is a Social Action and Resistance Showcase hosted by The Historic Y Center for the Arts, Education, Human Rights and Social and Environmental Justice on Sunday, May 4 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

This event is for those who are deeply concerned by government attacks on democracy, on liberal, progressive values, and on rhetoric and budget cuts that disproportionately target the poor and marginalized?
Do you want to take a stand against these injustices and learn about the various ways around Tucson to get involved and affect positive change? Then this event is for you.

Come to be inspired and energized! Learn about actions others are taking, make meaningful connections with those who reflect your values, and leave with the knowledge of how to get involved and make a difference!

Our goal is to assemble, in one place, organizers and activists from as many organizations as we can find that share our objective of fighting back against the harmful and inhumane policies of the Trump regime, and helping vulnerable populations and causes that are under increasing attack, and taking back our country.

From 10:00 to 1:00, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the missions and objectives of dozens of various movements and organizations, sign up to volunteer for, or attend, specific actions, projects, protests or events, and/or make personal donations to causes that resonate. From 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., there will be additional social/networking time to encourage introductions, collaboration, and idea exchange. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided.

May the Fourth Be with the People! will occur in conjunction with a staged reading of “Democracy Sucks,” Monica Bauer’s comedy about philosophy, politics, and teaching, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at The Scoundrel and Scamp Theatre. Pay-what-you-will admissions will be donated to the ACLU.
