Leaving behind the desert for the cosmos, Hermanos Gutiérrez present a new sound world on their Sonido Cósmico, brimming with Latin mystique and otherworldly guitar interplay that “shimmers with hallucinogenic energy” (Rolling Stone). Deep, infinite, and spiritual, the new album is an odyssey through lush musical soundscapes, imbued with the soulful heritage of Hermanos Gutiérrez, and artfully produced by Dan Auerbach.
Hermanos Gutiérrez new album is Sonido Cósmico (Easy Eye Sound). An album that relishes in a thrilling darkness and an almost supernatural quality, Sonido Cósmico (translates to cosmic sound) evokes new, extraterrestrial inspirations. Produced by their “third brother,” Dan Auerbach — GRAMMY®-winning producer and lead singer of The Black Keys — Sonido Cósmico blends enveloping synths, organ song, slight percussion, and Latin inspired rhythms with the haunting, braided guitar lines that are a now established trademark of the Hermanos Gutiérrez sound.
In the lead up to today’s release, the Ecuadorian-Swiss sibling duo was included in The New York Times T Magazine’s Spring Gift Guide, performed a “gorgeous, blissed out” set for World Cafe, featured in FLAUNT’s summer print issue, and named a Must See Latin Act at Coachella by the LA Times and among Variety’s best of the fest — “their vividly atmospheric, spaghetti-western-esque instrumentals come to life in a live setting” — and took a day trip to the flea market with FLOOD.
This summer, Hermanos Gutiérrez will perform sold out shows at LA’s Lodge Room and Troubadour, make a return to Newport Folk Festival, and embark on a run of EU dates — their latest touring highlights since playing a string of shows with Khruangbin, sharing stages with The Black Keys at SXSW and welcoming guest Adrian Quesada of The Black Pumas during their weekend one Coachella set, and completing their biggest and fastest selling headline tour to date with shows at iconic venues including Nashville’s Ryman Theater and two sold out nights at Brooklyn Steel.
They’ve also shared a new music video for “It’s All In Your Mind.” With cheeky nods to the Mystery Inc. gang, this animated short is an intergalactic investigation into the brother’s nostalgic, yet haunting harmonies. Watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es-X-VxjJiw
Previously released tracks from Sonido Cósmico include the romantic “Until We Meet Again”, which Remezcla deemed “one of the highlights of their highly evocative catalog,” the eerie, otherworldly “Low Sun” that KCRW named as a Top Tune and FLOOD praised for “sees the brothers do what they do best: let intuition guide the movement of their fingers,” and the gritty, filmic “Barrio Hustle”.
