Arizona promises to be a pivotal state in the upcoming US election. Polls predict that we will be a swing state for the presidential election. Furthermore, Arizona features a competitive Senate seat as well as several competitive congressional contexts. Previous elections in 2020 and 2022 showed some gains for Democrats, but will 2024 be different? Furthermore, how do Arizona voters differ from the rest of the country in their concerns, partisanship, and other policy preferences? Will the abortion referendum impact the results?
The University of Arizona School of Government and Public Policy, through its faculty expertise, the Arizona Voter Project, and the Arizona Policy Lab, has the resources to lend unique insights into these questions. At this roundtable, we will bring together Chris Weber, Director of the Arizona Voter Project, to discuss changes in the Arizona electorate. Samara Klar, the Melody Robidoux Foundation Fund Professor of Political Science will discuss factors that could play a role in the election outcome. Lisa Sanchez, assistant professor of political science, will discuss the importance of Latino voters and how immigration politics may impact the outcome. After the panelist presentations, the audience will have an opportunity to ask questions. Register to attend online or in-person.
