CALL TO ARTISTS
Expression Against Repression #3
Tucson Artist Protest group invites artists to participate in the third iteration of Expression Against Repression, a grassroots, community-powered exhibition at The Historic Y, 738 N 5th Ave. at University, opening April 25, closing May 22.
We believe art plants the seeds for change. In times of social, political, and personal constraint, creative expression becomes an act of resistance, witnessing, and care. This exhibition centers work that speaks back to repression in all its forms; systemic, cultural, internal, and imagined, and celebrates the power of artists to imagine alternatives.
Even if your work is not usually considered “political,” we encourage you to participate. If something about the current state of the world has been weighing on you, try expressing it through your art. It doesn’t have to be your most polished or “best” work. Speaking up with your art can help you, or someone else, see things differently.
All mediums are welcome. We encourage submissions from artists of all backgrounds and experience levels.
SUBMISSIONS DUE: The Historic Y, 738 N 5th Ave 4/22 8am – 1pm OR 4/23 2pm – 7pm
