A world class line-up of models, artists, and designers come to Tucson to feature the music, food, dance, and fashion of Africa in an unforgettable experience.
Colorful fabrics, formed draperies, elegant construction, and a world class lineup of artists and designers come together from October 9-12 at the Diaspora Showcase Africa in Tucson, Arizona. Presented by award-winning Producer, Kwevi Quaye, the showcase features designers, Kwame Koranteng from Ghana, Maria K. Adeeko from Nigeria, Farouque Abdela from Tanzania, and Else Hardjopawiro from Suriname with VOGUE published and FORD model from London Fashion Week. The theme of this year’s show, “Sounds and Style 2”, is a string arrangements of songs popularized by the legendary South African artist, Miriam Makeba with kora instrumentalists, Karamo Susso from Mali, guitarists Fernando Perdomo from the movie. “Echo In The Canyon”, Jason Tambo from Congo, Carlos Solorzano on drums and Grammy-Award Percussionist Munyungo Jackson. This acoustic interpretation is slated to thrill, bringing new colors and textures to Miriam Makeba’s songs.
Since 2004, Diaspora Showcase Africa has presented many notable African and international designers, models, dancers and artists, that have been featured in several prints and broadcast media, including VOGUE, ESSENCE, Black Elegance, THE NEW YORKER, CNN and ELLE.
