Our Blackness, Our Heritage is a grassroots initiative that engages in Community, Collaboration and Culture within a family-friendly atmosphere with organizations that have paved the way for such endeavors. This year, we honor Black History Month by supporting the current and next generations of artists, students and upcoming dancers. We look forward to producing a program that will highlight the HISTORY and community actions represented by the Divine 9 Organizations, youth step and dance teams and guest artists. Barbea Williams Performing Company, Arizona’s Premier Afrikan Centered Arts and Culture Organization will set the tone by addressing issues through the theme “Cascade of Rhythms”; by portraying the current and upcoming dance styles of Chicago Footwork, Krumping, Detroit Jit, Light Feet, and Stepping.
This Black History Month, Friidom and a powerhouse cast of movement artists light up the stage with a fusion of street styles—Krump, Epiic, House, Poppin, Waving, and Footwork—united in a bold vision for Black and Brown communities. Rooted in resilience and innovation, the performance celebrates street dance as a powerful expression of identity and growth. Through movement, it reimagines the past, shapes the present, and inspires the future—honoring history while charting new paths toward freedom. Journey through universal dance genres as we transcend grief and rise into new possibilities, redefining what it means to live free and truly be epic.
