“Borderline,” directed by Julian Cardenas and written by Andrew Sianez-De La O, is a captivating theater show. Set in the old cotton fields of Socorro, Texas, the play intertwines ghost stories with the real-life challenges faced by children living on the border. Two young storytellers and two secret-keepers must confront a menacing creature in the desert, relying on each other and the voice of the repentant Tío Ofelio to survive. Through made-up myths, stories of the past and a rendition of La Llorona, they face and seek to overcome the very real monster stalking the borderlands.
